Seamus Johnston

Director of Lacrosse Operations

Harvard Men's Lacrosse has announced the hiring of Seamus Johnston as its new Director of Lacrosse Operations. Johnston joins the Crimson with a strong background in collegiate athletics and operations management, bringing energy, organization, and a deep passion for the game to Cambridge. In his new role, Johnston will support the day-to-day operations of the program while working closely with the coaching staff to help enhance the student-athlete experience.

"We are thrilled to add Seamus to our HLX staff," said Gerry Byrne, the Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Lacrosse. "His role is a critical one as he is the engine for the delivery of the "Undefeated Experience" for our student-athletes. He will help drive our story telling on Social Media, execute our off-season service events as well as engagements with our fans and season ticket holders that will help us lead the Ivy League in attendance once again. His work is central to the success of our student-athletes on the field and off by allowing them to focus on being great students, great players and great people"

In his new role, Johnston will be the general manager for the HLX, ensuring that student-athletes have the most compelling and engaging athletic and academic experience possible. He will oversee travel, nutrition and equipment needs while also leading the student-manager program for the Crimson lacrosse team.

A former standout on the lacrosse field, Johnston played five seasons of college lacrosse with Trinity (2021-2024) and Salisbury (2025) at the competitive Division III level. The Duxbury, Massachusetts native was a two-time captain for the Bantams lacrosse program, helping the team earn 26 victories in his four seasons in Hartford. After graduating from Trinity with a major in political science, Johnston moved over to DIII powerhouse, Salisbury University, for a graduate season in 2025. The defender started every game and helped lead the Sea Gulls to a 20-1 record while earning All-CLC Second Team honors. Johnston graduated from Salisbury this past May with a master's degree in communications with a concentration in athletics.

"Seamus stood out early in the review process as his energy and curiosity was palpable. He is eyeing a career in sports management and we feel strongly that his time with us will build that foundation for a successful pathway to pro or college sports," added Byrne.

While in college, Johnston held a general management internship with the Hartford Wolfpack of the American Hockey League (AHL) an affiliate of the National Hockey League's New York Rangers in the Summer of 2023. In this role, Johnston shadowed the organization's general manager and assisted with a number of duties that involved all aspects of team operations. Johnston also served as an intern for the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office during the Summer of 2022.

"I am beyond excited to join the Harvard Lacrosse team," said Johnston. "I am looking forward to working closely with the staff and student-athletes to help drive this program to continued success."
